The current generation of 2SLGBTQI+ Seniors have endured a lifetime of discrimination due to their sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression and often face specific challenges as they age. In response, the City of Toronto Seniors Services and Long-Term Care (SSLTC) engaged a working group of community members, service providers, advocates, and allies to revitalize and implement a 2SLGBTQI+ training Tool Kit focused on addressing homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia affecting seniors. The new Tool Kit, Leading & Learning with Pride, was co-developed to promote respectful, inclusive, and affirming care for 2SLGBQTI+ Seniors across the care continuum, including in long-term care, retirement, homecare, healthcare, and social service settings. This 30-minute info session will provide important context and an overview of Tool Kit content with the aim of encouraging attendees to access, use, and circulate the Tool Kit to enhance care for 2SLGBTQI+ seniors.
