This talk will remind participants that neurocognitive disorders are progressive, and may be terminal for many people living with dementia. Palliative care principles are relevant to varying degrees along the course. We will discuss symptom management and considerations such as tube feeding and goals of care discussions.

Dr. Chris Frank MD, FCFP

Chris Frank graduated from medicine at the University of Western Ontario in 1989. He completed family medicine training at Queen’s University, then did additional training in Care of the Elderly at Queen’s. He has a focused practice in geriatrics and palliative care. He is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine.

His clinical roles include inpatient geriatric rehabilitation, palliative care inpatient unit, and outpatient geriatrics.

He has held leadership roles including Chair of Health Care of the Elderly Program at the College of Family Physicians of Canada; President of the Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS).

He has been awarded an Award of Excellence by the Ontario College of Family Physicians in 2012 and the CGS Distinguished Service Award in 2018. He was a top 10 finisher in the BC Bike Race in his age category and plays mandolin in Old Docs New Tricks.
