This will be followed by a presentation of a case, with interactive discussion by leading experts in Geriatrics (Dr. John Marotta) and Geriatric Psychiatry (Dr. Damien Gallagher) on diagnosis and care pathways.

Dr. Damien Gallagher MB, MD, MRCPsych, FRCPC
 
Damien Gallagher is a geriatric psychiatrist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. He is a member of the geriatric psychopharmacology research group at Sunnybrook and assistant professor with the University of Toronto. His clinical practice includes treatment of late life mood disorders, management of behavioral symptoms in the context of neurocognitive disorders and prevention of cognitive decline in these high risk groups. He has published extensively on these topics in the international literature and has co-edited a textbook on geriatric psychiatry.

Dr. Krista L. Lanctôt has a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Toronto, and holds the Bernick Chair in Geriatric Psychopharmacology. She is currently a Senior Scientist in Geriatric Psychiatry and in the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program at Sunnybrook Research Institute, Research Co-Director in the Department of Psychiatry at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Head of Geriatric Psychopharmacology Research. She is also a Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology/Toxicology, and Vice Chair of Basic and Clinical Sciences in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. 
 
Dr. Lanctôt is an active researcher with more than 425 published papers, and Editor of the 2021 book “Apathy: Clinical and Neuroscientific Perspectives from Neurology and Psychiatry”.  Her group’s research has focused on optimizing the treatment of cognition and neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with dementia and in predementia states. 
 
Dr. Giovanni Marotta, MD, FRCP(c); Geriatrician, Internist, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
 
Giovanni Marotta is a geriatrician and internist, with a career focused on the care of the elderly in acute, rehabilitation, and long-term care settings. He holds leadership roles at Sunnybrook Health Sciences and University Health Network, and is the Medical Director for the Calabrian Benevolent Association of Ontario (CBAO) Senior's Day Program. His work includes clinical care, research in areas like cognitive health and chronic pain, and speaking on topics such as end-of-life care.
