Dr. Sylvie Belleville, PhD

Sylvie Belleville is a full professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université de Montréal and a researcher at the Research Centre of the Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal. She is renowned for her work on ageing, and more specifically on the cognitive changes associated with ageing and mild cognitive impairment, on programmes to reduce their impact and on their implementation in the community. She directed the Research Centre at the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal for more than 13 years and founded and directed the Quebec Consortium for the Early Identification of Alzheimer's Disease for 11 years. She is currently Director of the Quebec Network for Research on Aging, one of the largest intersectoral networks in Quebec. Holder of the Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience of Aging and Brain Plasticity, she has published over 250 scientific articles during her career. She has received numerous awards in recognition of her contribution, including the  Distinction Award from the YWCA, the Léo-Parizeau Award from ACFAS , an honorary doctorate from the Université de Mons and the Prix du Québec Armand-Frappier. She is also an elected member of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
