Dementia currently costs more than cancer, heart disease and stroke put together and the numbers affected will double in the next twenty years.  There are two possible journeys with dementia.  In one you stay well for as long as possible and in the other you go down hill faster than necessary.  People going down hill is expensive for the State, but even more expensive for the family because unlike other diseases, the results of this one are paid for by the family.  We are bombarded with media stories of celebrity angst, false announcements about breakthrough research and political promises of a cure.

This talk will focus on what is practical and makes a difference, based on the evidence that exists.

This integrated KTE webinar event is brought to you by brainXchange in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Canadian Consortium of Neurodegeneration in Aging (CCNA).
