This webinar focuses on adjusting… Adjusting to new roles, new environments and
new people. This new "normal" is explored, all within the context of moving into a LTC home.
Tips on how to help the family adjust, how to help the family member who has moved in adjust, how the family can take care of themselves, how family can make the most of visits and what emotions they may experience will be discussed. Suggestions on building relationships and working with staff at the LTC home are also provided as common concerns are described.
The personal story of one of the presenters will be shared with insights on what helped and lessoned learned as well as links to key resources.

Bonnie Daros RN, BScN, GNC(C)
Bonnie is a Psychogeriatric Resource Consultant with the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. She provides education, consultation and support to staff in Long Term Care working with persons suffering from dementia and mental illness. Her over 20 years of experience in the area of dementia has helped her acquire an in-depth understanding of dementia and a commitment to promoting person centered care and best practice.
Jennifer Hall:
Jennifer Hall is a wife, mother of two, grandmother of a 6 month old Molly, real estate agent and care partner of her husband, Tom to whom she has been married for 38 years. Tom was 51 when he began to have symptoms and was officially diagnosed with probable Alzheimer's disease in 2003 when he was 53 years old. Tom has been in a long term care home for 6 years and is in the latter stages of the disease.
