Public Education Coordinators (PEC) are strategically located in every Alzheimer Society Chapter in the Province of Ontario. Their mandate is to coordinate the educational programs of the Society including public education and skill development training for the public, volunteers, students, families and staff in Long Term Care and community agencies. They also facilitate caregiver support programs and are active participants in their local Dementia Network. The PEC are funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and have backgrounds in nursing, adult education, social work and gerontology. The goal of placing these professionals in the community is to improve dementia care through education. Contact a PEC
